Ian has over 20 years of experience across banking, technology and private equity across South Asia, the Middle East and Africa. He is passionate about the interplay between technology and banking, especially as it causes business models and industry structures to evolve.
Ian has been with Standard Chartered Bank for the past 15 years, delivering complex projects, enabling strategic business outcomes and delivering robust governance and risk management through various senior and board level positions across Africa and South Asia. Ian has played a key role in launching 10 digital banks across Africa and Pakistan, expansion into new countries (Saudi, Egypt) through launch of greenfield banking operations, strategic sale of businesses in nine countries in AME, and executing a number of productivity and transformation initiatives for the region. He also oversees delivery of the governance and risk framework for the 25 countries across Africa and Middle East.
Ian completed his undergraduate studies in Electronics and Telecommunications engineering and graduated from INSEAD with a Masters in Business Administration. He has also completed Stanford GSB’s Corporate Innovation and Leadership Program.
