Strategic Engagement to Assess Market Position and Define Growth

A strategy exercise to assess the organisation's current market position in terms of scale, reach, growth, and impact.

The organisation is one of India’s leading NGOs providing skill development training for underprivileged individuals, with a focus on ensuring job placements. It is dedicated to creating large-scale digital livelihood opportunities for youth from disadvantaged communities across the country.

OBJECTIVE OF THE STRATEGY ENGAGEMENT

Through this strategic engagement, the organisation aimed to assess its current market position in terms of scale, reach, growth, and impact. They sought clarity on the direction they should pursue to create meaningful impact, questioning whether their existing efforts would remain relevant in the future or if there were new, emerging areas to focus on. They enlisted Sattva’s expertise to help achieve these goals.

OUR APPROACH

Sattva structured the strategy engagement into four key phases to thoroughly assess the organisation’s needs.

Phase 1 was an organisational assessment to understand the organisation’s strengths and areas for improvement. This included reviewing documents, conducting interviews, focus groups, field visits, and surveys, and developing a SWOT analysis and scorecard. We also identified key questions and early ideas for the organisation’s future direction.

Phase 2 focused on helping the organisation develop its overall strategy. We looked at trends in their priority areas, created 2-3 strategic focus points, and ran a workshop to select a main strategic focus going forward.

Phase 3 was about creating a roadmap and action plan to bring the strategy to life. In a planning workshop, we set long-term goals, identified key milestones, outlined needed resources, assessed potential risks, and established a framework for ongoing oversight.

Phase 4 involved defining the organisation’s key goals and Theory of Change for its priority programs. We also identified key types of funders, designed fundraising products, and conducted research on funding sources relevant to the organisation.
