CSR: Creation of a Model Education Programme

A pioneering initiative designed to convert 205 government schools across five districts into “Centres of Excellence”.

Our client is a leading Indian multinational in the steel industry.

This company’s foundation sought to make a significant impact in education by transforming public schools near its Chitradurga plant in Karnataka. To achieve this, they collaborated with the Karnataka government and enlisted Sattva’s expertise to create a model education programme aimed at addressing foundational challenges in government schools and bridging the quality gap with private institutions.

OBJECTIVE OF THE CSR FLAGSHIP PROGRAMME 

The foundation joined the  Karnataka Model School Pathways Programme (KMSPP), a pioneering initiative designed to convert 205 government schools across five districts into “Centres of Excellence” by 2026, making school education a community-driven priority in line with NIPUN Bharat’s goals for foundational literacy and numeracy.

OUR APPROACH 

Sattva’s Strategic Approach for the Foundation’s Karnataka Education Transformation Initiative

Sattva designed a blueprint for model schools focusing on holistic student development and implemented an inclusive programme with the government and NGO partners.

Sattva acts as the PMU for the Model School Programme:

  • Designing the concept and implementation plan
  • Facilitating strategic partnerships with donor organisations with complementary focus / expertise
  • Backbone organisation to serve as a secretariat to anchor strategy and ongoing operations
  • Capacity building across levels of the system: NGOs to School to Education dept. to ensure sustainability.

OUTCOMES and IMPACT

  • As of 2024, KMSPP is currently engaging with:
      • 210 Schools across five districts in Karnataka
      • 12 Partners Collaborative including five donor organisations
      • 250+ teachers and      
      • 30,700+ students impacted.
  • Long-Term Vision: This 3-year  initiative focuses on scaling up academic outcomes, including science labs, spoken English, and early childhood training. The programme exemplifies public-private collaboration, setting a precedent for quality education in government schools across India.
