A Sattva Global Case Study
Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the German development agency, has been operating the Competitive African Rice Initiative (CARI), to increase competitiveness of African small-scale rice farmers, farmer cooperatives, millers and other actors in the value chain in Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Nigeria and Ghana since 2013.
One of the key interventions of the CARI program was on extension services and training support for rice farmers and parboilers. GIZ wished to to assess the current extension approach and the training monitoring system to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the program with recommendations on how to improve effectiveness.
